i am not safer than a bank.
Setlist and report! Matthew Good (And His Band), November 10, 2009, at The Centre for Performing Arts in Vancouver.

This makes five times I've seen him, and I'm still on the fence about the solo vs. band thing. My life is hard. )

Overall, not the worst show I've ever been to, but not his best ever. He looked like shit, but also like he was having a lot of fun, so. Idk. B+++, would see again.

This is a DW-origin crospost, oh noes. Feel free to comment on LJ or the original post here.
andy's like: srsly guys this is lame.
1. My brother Deano over there collects the most fascinating illnesses, guys.

2. As per [info]mandysbitch's instructions, I'm doing the post about a happy thing every day for eight days in a row meme. Starting today. So my happy thing is actually the last three days? Because I got to hang out with [info]estrellada pretty much all weekend, and on Saturday night we went to a shoooow. )

And then Tillie and I slept until noon/one o'clock and had big breakfast with tasty bison sausage and watched some SPN and about fifteen minutes of The Ten Commandments (oops, sorry) and talked about things and things and things. She is a good brother, yo.
the internet is for.
1. Yay! [info]estrellada and I finally got rid of the tickets for the Seattle show! Whoo! \o/

2. You know what's annoying? When you write the beginning and end of a sex scene separately, and then you start writing to the middle and realize you have no idea how to get from Character A being on top to Character B being on top. Well, okay, I do have to get Character A's jeans off at some point, so that might help. Bleh. So annoying. This is why I don't write porn. (Uh. Still that mostly het fic pretty much nobody actually knows about. Whatever, at least I'm writing. Apparently there is Mikeyway in it now, though, and I don't know what to do with that. Whatever, whatever. Forget I said anything.)

3. Oh my gosh, you guys, MuchMore has been airing Entourage uncut and uncensored at SEVEN IN THE EVENING ON BASIC CABLE. Canadian TV, never ever stop being bizarrely awesome.

4. I don't think I have anything else to say, really. Oh, right. Finally added the other FOB "news" place to my flist, because I miss Pete's Twitters. Because I'm a weirdo. I haven't died yet, although Deano was mysteriously ill for about an hour last night. HMM.

tonight the music seems so loud.

  • Apr. 7th, 2009 at 3:17 PM
there's nothing wrong with happiness.
So, yes. House was really difficult last night, and what I have to say about it isn't for you right now, if ever.

I know there are a lot of people in the world who are not in the least into shipping Pete and Ashlee IRL (on my very own flist, even! Gasp!), but I do. So very hard. It is really wonderful when people who are so obviously suited have an opportunity to be together. Just think: one pee fetishist and one kid with body image issues off the market!

I wish I had time to watch LOTMS before I pick up [info]estrellada this afternoon. I's on the rag, and that thing always makes me feel better. Sigh.

(Incidentally, LOTMS is at least a magnitude more awesome than the Pansy Division documentary. Because the PD one is called Life in a Gay Rock Band, but it's just, like, the story of the band. It's not about being in a rock band at all, let alone a gay one. Whereas LOTMS has the backstory and the frontstory and--MCR. Granted, you can't blame PD for not having made their movie about MCR. Still.)

Re: BND show outfit. It's down to homemade Cobra Starship shirt, "FOB IS A GANG" shirt (which, idk, the grammar hurts my heart, but at least if I'm wearing it I don't have to look at it?), HCT shirt (except I should probably retire it before it gets any more pinholes), or Hemmy shirt. *hands*

And now I will spend the twenty minutes before I have to leave looking at leather jackets and signing up for [info]genderbendbb. Because I'm a masochist and I love disappointing people! \o/

just lay here and hope for the best.

  • Jan. 28th, 2009 at 10:02 AM
laying down sometimes helps.
Today's (and yesterday's) adorable:

1. Downloaded the half-hour video from the Trois package teddy USB thingady. So awesome. So, so awesome. If anybody wants it and doesn't already have it, etc.

2. The eleventh track on Matthew Good's upcoming album was cut, sadly, but this blog post has exclusive video of an in-studio performance (warning: humour and bad country music alert).

3. Okay, so a local band I actually like finally won the CFOX Vancouver Seeds contest, and here they are: Incura. "Here To Blame" is a pretty fantastic song, not least because I totally interpret it to be about a guy with a sekrit gay life. Anyway. Go forth and listen. They are--idk, melodic metal? Is there such a thing? The singer sings very well, and also screams very well. There is organ and some string section action. Their motto is, "Protect the world. Fight dragons. Seriously." \o/

In other news of varying adorableness:

1. Federal budget. Fuck you, Harper. I'm glad I've got an NDP MP so I don't have bother telling him to vote against your douchebaggery. I'm also glad I've got a union job, so there's considerably less likelihood your douchebaggery is going to influence my ability to pay the rent. Asshole.

2. Tickets for the Vancouver BND:PD show are $36CDN (all the way up to $189.75 for, I would hope, the opportunity to suck Patrick's dick or have yours sucked by Pete, Christ on a cracker). I'm going to get my Seattle ticket ($34USD) this weekend and probably spring for Vancouver sometime later in February.

not long ago i gave up hope.

what the shit is this.
Um? I can has FOB in Seattle, pls? And I can GO, because it is my day OFF, and the next day is also my day OFF, and I even know where it IS.

BOYS, BOYS, you keep me hanging for a whole fucking year, but then you do me right (with bonuf TAI, even). Oh crazy love. Who's with me?

(I'm just waiting for this to be completely, totally untrue, fyi. When I wake up on December 5 with a pounding headache and steering wheel imprints on my hands, I'll believe it.)

Anyway. Joe is getting married! I love this idea! We knew that already!

have some outtakes from his most recent fictional wedding. )

*rolls eyes at self*

So yeah, Seattle!

when i do i dream of drowing in the ocean.

they're like a fucking catalogue.
So some band called Cobra Starship is playing at the Croatian on the twenty-third (it`s a Thursday, which is fine for me `cause I`m a slack-ass public servant who gets Fridays off, but anyway). Any locals (semi-locals, non-locals, wtfever) feel like going?

Yes, it`ll be all-ages, and yes, it is the Croatian. However, I have to point out that [info]wilde_stallyn and I took one for the team and went to TAI (and Sherwood! And Armour For Sleep! And--and. Yeah, it was bad) there last fall (my thirteen-year-old cousin from the sticks attended, I am not fucking kidding). I think I am owed an adult concert experience in that venue (granted, this is not terribly likely with CS, but. I really want to see them live again).

It`s twenty dollars. Make your decision.

(Please forgive the bad-format apostrophes in this post; my partner switches his keyboard to German for things and then doesn`t switch it back and I don`t know how.)

there's no way you can stop me now.

Shows!

the gabe saporta school for kids who can't stage-dive good. )

Anyway. I'm still not dead, and not working today. Well, not for money. I'm writing, though. Must finish Het Exchange fic and post it so I can read the one written for me. I am lame, lame, lame.

Randomly, have some Foo Fighters. Features "Cheer Up, Boys (Your Make-Up Is Running)," which does not appear to actually be about emo at all, but does sound like an emo song. Or, you know, Dave Grohl writing an emo song. My favourite is "Stranger Things Have Happened," because it's awesome and also because it's ONE TAKE, with a METRONOME for keeping time. GAH, GAH. (Also, that song is very important to my personal concept of PXP, fyi.)

In coming days, look for not just the het fic, but also a bit of meta on how fucking weird it is when complete strangers recognize my LJ name(s).

Enjoy! A bien tot!

and you know just where you are.

you can hate me until you pay me.
I just got together my at-work WIP file and all my bandom pictures/icons/random shit I've collected in the last two years so I can e-mail it to myself at home. ~10000KB, zipped. I don't know, guys. Apparently I spend a lot of time at work writing and skimming picspams for cyoot fotos.

I don't know what I'm going to do when I'm AFK in a bus all day. Probably get one of these, or eBay an old school portable word processor or something (yes, yes, I know about the XO and the Asus one, etc., but their keyboards are TOO SMALL for my clumsy, tendonitis-riddled fingers. And also, paper+pen does not work, partly 'cause of the tendonitis, partly 'cause of the thinking way faster than I can manually write. I get FRUSTRATED; it's a problem with my brain. Anyway).

Adding to the joy, I just signed up to write and mix for [info]bandombigbang (they used the word "oppobrium" in the info post, guys, seriously). The times, yo, they are fun.

Oh and I still have to finish my Het Exchange fic. \o/

Two weeks (and a few days, whatever) from now is COBRAS, possibly TWICE. And two weeks after that is WINTERSLEEP, eeee.

That is all!
inspired by peteys.
It's a post of pimpery. Etc.

1. [info]playfullips is doing a lazy person's friending meme: Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaave you met ______? You comment with your username and other people tell you people you should friend. Stuff. I didn't comment with my username, 'cause I'm actually very happy with my flist at the mo, even though sometimes you guys go "OMG PATRICK HOTTEST PICTURE EVER" for a day and a half and I don't understand what you're talking about. I mean, I like the locked-elbows-hands-in-pockets thing too (A LOT), and I do really swoon when he wears black t-shirts (I maybe poked at his belly on the screen a little. ONLY A LITTLE), but really guys. What? That is exceedingly hot? Because he has girl hair for once in his life (it's a little wavy!)? Are you kidding? Did you see this? It's very old, but still. Way hotter.

No, seriously. I am well-aware that his shoes are probably shiny purple and green plastic with sparkly red laces. I would still snuggle them. He gives very good topface, is all I'm saying (it makes some people want to punch him in the mouth! That's how good it is!).

Anyway, enough about my aesthetics. Um. Go play in the friending meme.

2. The Bandom Het Fic Exchange. Exactly what it says on the box. I was annoyed at myself for not requesting Pete/Ashlee ageplay (they are both seven! They play LEGO and Easy Bake Oven and watch cartoons!), but it's possible I should just write that shit myself. And never ever put it on the internets.

3. PANIC! I love your stupid incoherent conceptual faces. I pimp nothing with this bit. I'm just saying. I love them and their ridiculous brains.

4. Uh. This one isn't pimping anything either. But the venue for the Cobra show got changed to the Plaza Club from Dick's on Dicks and I'm kind of annoyed. Because I know Dick's and I like it and I know exactly where I want to be (in the gallery upstairs zomg: fewer people, better view, closer to two bars AND a bathroom), etc., and I know jack shit about the Plaza. Fortunately they apparently have decent theme nights (for a straight club on fucking Granville Street), so I'll probably go check it out for dancing one night before the show. Still. Wtf, Gabe.

5. There was something else I wanted to pimp, but I can't remember what it was. Oh right, [info]playfullips's fic. "But The Point Is Probably Moot"--it's a very cute wee "Patrick likes Ashlee!" story. I likes it. Title from "Jesse's Girl" ftw!

The end! Going to work on "Document" now! Trans!fic? Several dollars per dozen. Making Patrick's girlfriend an actually important character? About a buck. Naming a queercore band after a women-only BDSM party? PRICELESS.
wipes his face.
I'm finally going to answer that questions meme tonight, so if you have a question (or four, whatever) pour moi, ask it.

Today I love: the coward Pete Wentz, Panic!, PETE, and the idea of Pete and Ashlee making sure Patrick doesn't work too much by being total goofballs who require constant supervision (a flawed plan, to be certain). I don't think I've ever actually kind of shipped a three/moresome before (SG1 does not count; I didn't want them to all have sex together, okay). It's interesting.

Today I do not love: firewalls, people continuing to harp on the Significance of Best Buy in Pete's Life (no, seriously, perhaps what he did to himself is more important than where? Maybe?), bureaucracy (I love filling out forms. I do not love the system which receives them), and my fucking nose stud (yay time for another trip to the piercer. FUCK THAT).

eta: I also do not love my cell phone, for it seems to have given up the ghost. DAMN YOU, NOKIA. Except for the "Thnks Fr Th Mmrs" video.

Anyway. I have to go be all community-minded and shit (and buy Wintersleep tickets. WINTERSLEEP. OH and Cobras, oops totally forgot about that one). Laters.
pattycakes.
Bandom friending meme. I just realised that I perpetuated the oppression of non-weemo bands in my profile, and now I feel really bad because omg I know and love people who slash the Rolling Stones and the Beatles and the Police (AND I RPed shitty Mary Sue New Kids On The Block stuff with my sisters when I was eight, okay). Stupid meta.

So anyway, it is possible I'm also going to the 2/9 Cobra show in Seattle, whoo!

I still have no Cobra icons. I'm just going to keep mentioning it until I remember to make/find some. Right.

tilleh and i come to conclusions about pete and his fanbase. )

Patrick is unimpressed by our conclusions.

maybe i wanted me to be.

Cobras are coming to Dick's on Dicks on February 10, zomg. The good news is that I think they'll be awesome in that venue (it has four bars! And an upstairs gallery for crowd-phobes like me! And will not be filled with fourteen-year-olds because it's not all-ages YAY!). The bad news is that I think I have to be at training for my new job at 7:30AM the next morning. The omgwe'reallinacult news is that I DON'T REALLY CARE and will go anyway.

So, yeah. I just have to remember to buy a ticket when they go on sale.

(In other concert news: I am so not going to Foo Fighters at the Coliseum. Not for fifty dollars, sry Dave ilu.)

Now I need to go write some tranny porn and find a new car. And work, right.

(WHY DON'T I HAVE ANY COBRA ICONS? Wtf.)

there's nothing i can do about you.

  • Sep. 22nd, 2007 at 12:50 AM
it is not your fault.
Preliminary setlist from the Matthew Good show. I will edit later with links to music.

eta: Now with music, video links, and some commentary on the show, bandom, and meta stuff. Because I like to hear myself type.

event parking for fifteen bucks? just so you know: he doesn't see any of that money. )

GUYS. IT WAS SO AWESOME. HE'S SO AWESOME. ILU, MATT.

i've got myself to blame for this.

TAI (plus Armor For Sleep, The Rocket Summer, and Sherwood*)! Awesome!

I absolutely needed them to play "Everything We Had," and of course they did. It was good and super cathartic (it being a break up song and me being recently broken up with, and us having had A Moment during the song at HCT). I didn't quite cry, 'cause I did that for two weeks already, but still, like I said, super cathartic (with kung fu grip). Whatevs.

So I was also hoping they'd play "Chop Chop," but no such luck (though I could not for the life of me remember the title. I was like, "That song, the chorus goes cheap champagne and a complicated lifestyle!"). Sadface! One day, when I'm old and resting on my laurels, I'm going to write angsty stupid angry bitter Patrick/William about that song. With absolutely no canon support whatsoever. It will be awesome.

They played a lot of older things, which I did not know so well, but still liked lots. Whoo. And Bill is just wonderfully bendy, which we all knew ♥.

I saw my thirteen-year-old cousin in the crowd. Precious, except not.

Also! There was a girl there with a pink bandana around her right calf, and every time she walked past, I was like, "FLAGGING! What is pink again?**" Because usually when I'm in a dark room filled with people, thinking someone's flagging is an appropriate response to bandana-wearing. It was made awkward by the fact that she appeared to be about fourteen, GAH.

So yeah, it was a good night, a million thanks to [info]wilde_stallyn for going with.

*Nate, Sherwood's singer/bassist (oh we love a singing bassist, yes we do), looks like he's Patrick's little older brother or something, it's kind of weird. Plus, all their songs sound the same (and the first thing made me sad about the second thing. He was so cute, and yet. The sameness).
**Fyi, pink is for strap-ons, NOT ageplay (wait, what? I totally didn't think that).

i'd kill to make them gold.

  • Sep. 14th, 2007 at 1:35 PM
patrick stump: rock god.
Going to see TAI tonight! Very very excited, because Armor For Sleep also! And yet, sad, because I have no TAI icons.

I'm wearing my Panic! shirt [info]wilde_stallyn brought me back from Bumbershoot. It was a birthday present. [info]wilde_stallyn is also picking up my ticket and going to the show with me. OSSUM. Beer!

Or. I dunno. I kind of feel like mixed drinks today. We'll see, I guess, because I probably shouldn't do both.

I fiddled with attempting to organise my tags today. Y/N? Some of them were really obscure, so I wanted to clarify. And then I got parenthesis happy. Um.

*goes to fix the andy tag*

and so far away.

1. TAI are playing here on Friday night, in a really awesome venue (I don't know how awesome it will be for TAI--I've only been to punk shows and Hot Hot Heat there, so). I don't know if I'm going or not. I want to, but I don't want to go by myself (hipsters! They're scary!), and it's possible I should possibly use the thirty dollars (plus drinks, plus merch, etc.) for the trip to LA (for drinks, for merch. And food! Right).

2. I'm working on three stories right now (FTM!Patrick, the post-catastrophic climate change/FOB break up futurefic where Patrick's married to Kelly Clarkson*, and a fun little ditty known in an exclusive club of two as "the Wendy's story"), and I kind of love all of them a lot. It's good times.

3. I've never been stopped by the police while driving. Or ever, in fact (though my first roommate and I had a wonderful afternoon of being questioned by homicide detectives after a dead body was found in a dumpster across from our apartment). How awesome would it be if my first time happened this week, since I'm broke and forgot to renew my license on my birthday?

*DON'T JUDGE ME. Someone has to re-populate the planet! Why not people with clear skin, body fat, and gorgeous pipes?

not the desperate type.

  • Aug. 31st, 2007 at 12:08 PM
is the king of sorrow.
You have got to be fucking kidding me. No Vancouver date? Seriously? Nothing in Washington, even?

I mean--I don't know what I mean. I know they're tired and busy and EVERYTHING, and that is a shitload of concerts anyway, but fucking come on. What was the point of the last three weeks of codes and and and. GAH.

So, you know, either the banter at HCT really was the same for every single goddamn show (but WHY what would be the POINT), or Pete should shut the fuck up and not make promises he can't keep (ilu anyway, you stupid fuck).

*goes and bes emo for ten minutes*
