andy's like: srsly guys this is lame.
1. If you have the "fourth wall" embarrassment squick (which is the one I have, of course), don't listen to the BND "Arms Race" commentary. It's fine, really, it's okay, but it took me three tries to get past Andy bringing fandom up in the first place, so. Christ on a cracker, Andy Hurley :/

2. This week is totally one of the times I love being on the DM Team mailing list. Lol.

3. Okay, I actually have things to do today, so I'm going to--go do them. Bye!

singing the symphonies of the overdosed.

can has a patrick on his tb sho.
BND WAS AT MY HOUSE WHEN I GOT HOME and Rafael waited a whole half-hour before he told me!!! I was tempted to not hide under his porch anymore, but then he made me dinner, so that's all right.

Tomorrow I'm going to buy a frame for my poster. Right now I'm ripping the CD, and then I'm going to watch the video commentaries, and I'm sure there will be entirely obnoxious squee at some point (Patrick. Patrick Vaughn Stump. I find your self-conscious pretention utterly precious. How did you steal my BS-o-meter and when can I have it back? I need it for real life things). Sorry in advance (also to my yoga class on Sunday, who might have to witness me doing asanas in the t-shirt. At least it's not as loud as the Hemmy faces one?).

For now, I wanted to mention one thing I noticed just flipping through the liner notes: go here (my RPF site), check the banner, note what everybody's shirts say, and then go here (yes, it's the same picture. I can't find my fullsize of the original). Y SO NCSSARY, PSHOP? *curious/confused hands*

Anyway. My day was otherwise uneventful. I often think my life is really boring and I don't have anything to do, but as soon as I try to add stuff, or schedule a cuddle/movie, I have no spare time whatsoever.

ALSO, LASTLY, I look terrible in yellow, but I'm going to make a Junior Wildnerness Explorer uniform anyway. BADGES FOR ACTUALLY USELESS THINGS, YES.

i hope you sing along and you steal a line.

god's own prozac.
1. My BND package isn't here yet. Customs :///

2. I'll live though, because! UP is the movie of my puppy/Junior Wilderness Explorer heaaaaaart.

3. ME: I was hiding under your porch. Because I love you. :DDD
RAFAEL: Oh right, that's where you came from! :DDD

4. I checked airfares to Chicago this morning, and just about made a mess in my pants. Seven-fifty round trip? NNNNGH. I have the week before [info]wincon off, so I think I will go one or two days early, to facilitate exploration of the Leather Archives & Museum, and other wondrous things.

5. And now it is time for more O. Henry and bed. Nom nom, bed.

all good things are wild.
Links to things which are composed of words:

1. "Where the Wild Things Were: Children of divorce, loneliness, and other magical things." After I saw WTWTA, I said it was childlike. I didn't mean happy unicorn funtiems, I meant this (children whose parents aren't divorced can have a similarly crappy time of it).

2. Via [info - personal] dragojustine: MYTHBUSTERS FIC. "Straight Man" by [info - personal] toft. It's sort of pre-slash, but not really. Oh god. Just read it, will you? Starts off kind of awkward and random, but totally hits stride a few sections in. I'm so excited about MB being a Yuletide fandom this year :D

3. This post concerns the death of Rafael's football team's goalkeeper. R's had a pretty shitty week because this happened (idk, Europeans and football), and it was really strange to see it pop up on M.Good's blog. WE ARE ALL CONNECTED. Or something.

4. The 4632 (not a "The 4400" spoof. Though it totally should be). My name is in there, somewhere off to the right, near the edge. I don't know why (theories abound as to where they got the names from, and I did sign up in the last two rounds of shenanigans, but there are a lot of people included who didn't, so), but the why is less important than the fact that FOB stole my cool again. Damn you, Fallout Boys.

what do you want me to say.

  • Nov. 3rd, 2009 at 6:44 PM
looking in.
1. I think I've found the words for the shirt I'm gonna wear to my Matthew Good show next week: "It Starts Today (It Ends When I Say It Ends)." Nom nom nom artist brains.

2. I will not read the lyrics for "From Now On We Are Enemies." I WILL NOT. This is the last new FOB there will be for a very long time (ever, even), and I'm not fucking spoiling myself for it!!! Dammit.

3. [info - personal] kanata is awesome and now I have LTROI on my computron, and ugh. Pretty movie is pretty. I can't even get over the use of the snow and subtle audio and stark font on the opening credits to create a liminal space (never mind pointing out how I'm all about liminal spaces right now).

4. Relatedly, have a snippet.

In which Patrick is fifteen, more or less. Pete is twenty. And...scene. )

all good things are wild.
1. I'm so completely toasted, wow. Still on endorphins from last night, despite about eleven hours of sleep (at least it's not a hangover!). Probably a shower will help, and I'll get to that soon.

2. Matthew has pneumonia, because boys are stupid. Hopefully he's better soon, and doesn't keep working so hard in rehearsal for the tour next month.

3. BJ's Awesome & Succinct Movie Revue for Where the Wild Things Are: "He's just a boy, pretending to be a wolf, pretending to be a king." Everybody needs to see this. I cried and laughed and cried so hard, guys.

4. Patrick didn't look hot at Los Premios MTV, he looked ill. I've said it all along*: he's a well-put-together little guy, and that's not going to change, but seriously. I AM OFFICIALLY WORRIED.

*Shallow confession time! I liked this band 'cause I liked to look at him, long before I ever actually really listened to "Sugar." Shocking, I know.

buy anything but can't buy backbone.
1. I live! Uh. Ate way too much in celebration of Occupation Day, and had a bottle of rum stolen by my "chosen" cousin (scare quotes 'cause our mothers are the ones who chose, not us). FAMILY. So amazing.

Did you know you can make pie from carrots? And it tastes and looks just like punkin pie? For reals! It's pretty awesome.

2. Okay, I just listened to the full/updated version of "Alpha Dog," and it's gonna take a few more tries, I think. Also, can we (not, actually) discuss how including a lock of a certain dude's (whose name starts with "P" and ends with "ete Wentz") hair in the Super Deluxe Vibrating Edition of the greatest hits collection is creepy as fuck? Christ on a cracker. Never change, Fall Out Boys. Never change. *facepalm*

3. Lastly, because I have to go to bed in a second, I re-found an amazing semi-old skool-sounding Canadian hiphop track and I wish I could buy it somewhere (iTunes faaaaail). Ugh. Love this song. "Great Minds" - DJ Murge with Ishkan and Just B. "If you didn't want it, motherfucker, what you asking it for?"

  • Sep. 4th, 2009 at 8:42 PM
are miserable and stunning.
1. I've been the Acting Chief Job Steward for the last two weeks, and have a week-ish left to go, and I've come to the conclusion that I am a really, terribly ineffective union representative. People either don't know me or don't like me (I'm in the office right now, and somebody just walked up to the door, made eye contact, and walked away, wtf? Whatever, I don't like her either). I've never been invested or interested in being popular, but it still stings when I try something new and nobody likes me this time either (except for the other three or four people at the office, but they don't count. And at least one of them wants in my pants, so he doesn't count twice).

2. I was thinking the other day that IOH has definitely fallen to the bottom of my personal FOB album ranking, but then I put it back on Patrick the iPod, and, well, okay, it's still #4 of four, but! I quite enjoy it nonetheless, and it still totally has some of my favourite lyrics ever. I'm newly committed to having some art (body or otherwise original) around "I could write it better than you ever felt it." And the non-album tracks are so amazing.

3. Do you really care what my FOB album ranking is? Seriously? Okay, whatever: FAD (probably because it's new), FUCT (because it is sooooo dark omg, and also it was my first one, so I'm attached), TTTYG (lol baby band), IOH (idek what's going on half the time). Or you could see it as two tiers of two-way ties, also. I'm bad at making decisions, guys.

4. Uh. General fandom time? I just wanted to give a big word up to this post about commenting on kink fics, or fics with kink in them. Two cents, I have them. )

Anyway.

5. GBBB: 20256/28000. I don't know if I can make the word count (blame [info]heyginger; she's the one who said I didn't actually need a bunch of scenes for which I had notes), but by gum I'm going to finish this motherfucker in three days. Hahaha.

  • Aug. 13th, 2009 at 1:55 PM
let me see your moves.
Origins of the Journey cover (at the veeery end, sry), with bonuf once-in-a-lifetime video of a FOB practise (at Fuck City, no less), and said Journey cover (assisted by Bden; shitty audio quality/damn hot PVStump alert).

All I'm saying is, the more video I see of them, the more I would totally add Pete/MHoppus to my list of things I'd read, if there were any (the void is probably a good thing, though). I would've said that in my comment on the ICH post, but Pete is lurking again and I'm just not in the mood.

Anyway, I have to go to work again now. Ugh. Why does this happen almost every day?

(I have Saturday off, though!!! Eee!!!)

eta: Oh my gosh wtf, I just noticed I credited thepurpleswitch on an SN icon I use on LJ. I don't even remember making that decision. It's pretty funny, I guess; lolmybrain.

the world's not waiting.
Note to self to download when you get home: random FUCT demo (sounds FUCT demo era, anyway).

Also, when I get paid on Friday, I'm preordering the FOToyworks comic. Dudes, I don't really pay for comics anymore (unless I want a hardcopy, and I defs do want a hardcopy of this one). My money just loves Pete Wentz and wants to be with him forever, what can I say.

The end! Have a nice day!

it'll last longer.
Oh my gosh, this is the best thing ever since HCT. It makes me so fucking happy, for no particular reason.

fall out boy vs. south korea vs. the giant spider. )

In other news, I am trying to get up the nerve to post what I have of "Praise You." The ending is so bad, you guys. It's just awful. Really terrible. Whatever, whatever. At least we're having pizza for dinner and I have an advising appointment at SFU's night school department next week and I found an [info]undeconstructed to possibly/probably hang out with after the hook pull in a few weeks. MISSIONS PARTIALLY ACCOMPLISHED.

Oh hey, I Tivoed this Tin Man mini-series thing, 'cause I really love adaptations of Baum's series (the original is for shit though, I'm not even kidding you--it's like Peter Pan, okay). Is it worth watching? It has that oddly attractive guy, hm.

what the fhtagn.
I fail at time management. Chris Pine, take me away from all this.

Happy Canada Day (ugh, I don't like nationalism, but I do love living here, and it is the best place on Earth, even if I wish the government would stop using my tax dollars to tell everybody else that so they'll relocate their corporate offices to downtown Richmond, buy a few Mercedeses for their company fleet, and lease some executive penthouses on False Creek, because BC being the best place on Earth is my personal opinion! It shouldn't be government policy! UGH, FRIENDLY CANADIAN FASCISM).

Via [info]nixwilliams.

eta: Matthew Good never gets invited to Canada Day parties, because he insists upon talking about child poverty.

The end.

PS: I am looking forward to the "What a Catch" video, even though I a) don't think it should be a single (ugh, srsly, wtf), and b) the video in my head is way better than whatever nautical tomfoolery they've decided to go with (this is quite often the case with FOB videos, actually--hire me for that directation job thar, Pete!).

tell me tell me tell me the lie.

  • Jun. 30th, 2009 at 11:55 AM
the terrible truth.
Two oldish/obscure FOB interviews: Joe (December 2003; notable for Joe wanting you to say no to heroin!!!), and Patrick (February 2005; notable for being conducted during the UK tour where Pete wasn't, and also for Patrick being a rambling rambler who rambles and makes no sense. And Prince).

I suppose it's good I found these, not just 'cause they're neat, but because I went to put them in my FOB ma.gnolia, and discovered that ma.gnolia is no more. It would've been nice of them to e-mail me with this news. At the address I supplied to them every time I logged in to the damn thing. Ugh. So many random interviews, gone. And some good non-LJ fic, too. Bleh.

In another vein: "Sizeism in Fandom - My Thoughts," a post prompted by an [info]spn_j2_bigbang story that I saw, upchucked a little over, and then didn't say anything about. I'm wondering why I didn't, now.

(Also, tiiiiiny quibble with the above post--she says we talk about gender in fandom, but we don't. We really don't. Recently, somebody posted a whinier version of my ancient open letter regarding "genderswap"--??? We don't talk about gender in fandom. We talk about sexism, feminism, misogyny, gender in our source texts, and whatever the fuck "community of women" means, but we don't talk about gender in fandom itself. If we talked about gender, we wouldn't be talking about cisgender women all the time. Just saying.)

note to self: regarding october trip. )

I need a "gender rights are human rights" shirt. And this one.

we can skip to the practical part.

like the borg queen
1. I'm about seventeen minutes into the FOB Artist Confidential transcript. Joe and Patrick need to stop talking over each other, Jesus fuck. Also, having done a few of these (I only finished the Peterick Podcast one, though), I've noticed Patrick has an adorable little habit of forgetting small words--"a" and "in," and things like that. It's annoying to transcribe, but ugh. So cute.

2. Here's a fannish thought about Andy Hurley that I've had for a while but keep forgetting to post, regarding his "anarchoprimitivist" politics. Or is it 'anarchosavagist'? Idk, whatever, zealous The End Is Nigh!!! people bore me. )

3. Working on "Praise You" right now, 'cause that's what wants working on. I think I might have to change the summary from "Patrick knows everything" to "Patrick is more fucked up than Pete, but gets laid even less." Is that too self-referencey? Are people who haven't read "Lord Knows" even going to read it? Important questions.
andy's like: srsly guys this is lame.
1. My brother Deano over there collects the most fascinating illnesses, guys.

2. As per [info]mandysbitch's instructions, I'm doing the post about a happy thing every day for eight days in a row meme. Starting today. So my happy thing is actually the last three days? Because I got to hang out with [info]estrellada pretty much all weekend, and on Saturday night we went to a shoooow. )

And then Tillie and I slept until noon/one o'clock and had big breakfast with tasty bison sausage and watched some SPN and about fifteen minutes of The Ten Commandments (oops, sorry) and talked about things and things and things. She is a good brother, yo.

just lay here and hope for the best.

  • Jan. 28th, 2009 at 10:02 AM
laying down sometimes helps.
Today's (and yesterday's) adorable:

1. Downloaded the half-hour video from the Trois package teddy USB thingady. So awesome. So, so awesome. If anybody wants it and doesn't already have it, etc.

2. The eleventh track on Matthew Good's upcoming album was cut, sadly, but this blog post has exclusive video of an in-studio performance (warning: humour and bad country music alert).

3. Okay, so a local band I actually like finally won the CFOX Vancouver Seeds contest, and here they are: Incura. "Here To Blame" is a pretty fantastic song, not least because I totally interpret it to be about a guy with a sekrit gay life. Anyway. Go forth and listen. They are--idk, melodic metal? Is there such a thing? The singer sings very well, and also screams very well. There is organ and some string section action. Their motto is, "Protect the world. Fight dragons. Seriously." \o/

In other news of varying adorableness:

1. Federal budget. Fuck you, Harper. I'm glad I've got an NDP MP so I don't have bother telling him to vote against your douchebaggery. I'm also glad I've got a union job, so there's considerably less likelihood your douchebaggery is going to influence my ability to pay the rent. Asshole.

2. Tickets for the Vancouver BND:PD show are $36CDN (all the way up to $189.75 for, I would hope, the opportunity to suck Patrick's dick or have yours sucked by Pete, Christ on a cracker). I'm going to get my Seattle ticket ($34USD) this weekend and probably spring for Vancouver sometime later in February.
vegans: hot in the sack.
Oh my god, stop me, I'm actually thinking about driving to Bellingham next Wednesday for an EXCLUSIVE FALL OUT BOY LISTENING PARTY at Hot Topic. Because I don't have to work the next day.

HOWEVER, I do need to take my car in to the shop on Wednesday night or Thursday morning so that it will get me and [info]estrellada and whoever else to Seattle for an EXCLUSIVE FALL OUT BOY WATCHING PARTY at the Paramount. So I think the eyelinered and arm-warmered and skinny-jeaned crowd at Bellisfair will just have to live without me. I am sure they will be devastated.

QUERY: Would the world be a better place if there were fic where Andy has a shameful (shameful!), desperate, incredibly dirty leather fetish? Like, other people wearing it. And he likes rubbing off on them. And it's very difficult for him, and he struggles daily, especially when people in his band wear leather vests and hats and ties (seriously! They are supposed to be his friends!), and then Patrick wears leather pants for a show, and Andy completely fucking loses it. Um. Or something. Y/N.

I think I know the answer, but I'm just not ready to commit.

gonna be around if you got no place to go.

  • Oct. 29th, 2008 at 10:50 PM
can has a patrick on his tb sho.
cut for small image. )

And while we're sighing over the "I Don't Care" video again, can I just say: I'd like an icon of Pete in his ridiculous shoulder holster and belt-bandolier-thing with--I don't even know what caption. He's sheriff of someplace. Pete Wentz for Sheriff? Something.

I don't know quite what to think of Live in the Lot. Mostly, I would like to have heard the conversations about the fingerless gloves, the thermal turtleneck (he looked like he was about to jump in a bobsled, okay--or speedskate the short track), and the bit where Patrick was like, "Hey, you need me to talk more on stage?" and Pete was like, "Yeah, that'd be cool. I seem to be entering Incoherenceville a lot lately, especially when I'm not allowed to swear," and Patrick was like, "Okay. I can handle that."

Lastly, the mothereffing break's over. Seriously, Pete.

(Oh my god, I think I just finished the final scene of "Praise You." It's not complete, there are about nine million scenes left to write, but seriously. I have an ending. And it's just as untidy as "Lord Knows," but hopefully people don't complain as much, because at least there's a decision made and a conclusion reached: Patrick is insane. Wow. Really. DONE. KIND OF.)

not long ago i gave up hope.

  • Oct. 27th, 2008 at 8:04 PM
what the shit is this.
Um? I can has FOB in Seattle, pls? And I can GO, because it is my day OFF, and the next day is also my day OFF, and I even know where it IS.

BOYS, BOYS, you keep me hanging for a whole fucking year, but then you do me right (with bonuf TAI, even). Oh crazy love. Who's with me?

(I'm just waiting for this to be completely, totally untrue, fyi. When I wake up on December 5 with a pounding headache and steering wheel imprints on my hands, I'll believe it.)

Anyway. Joe is getting married! I love this idea! We knew that already!

have some outtakes from his most recent fictional wedding. )
